Introduction

Water is vital to life. It is an important resource in a continent as dry as Australia. Water demand has increased by 19% between 1994 and 1997, resulting in it being a critical resource in some Australian agriculture and urban areas.

However, there is clear evidence of degradation in our rivers - loss of wetlands, blue-green algae blooms, carp infestation, decline in native fish populations, increased salinity and high bacterial levels.

Participate in this project and investigate the issues surrounding water conservation in Australia.

Learning Area: SOSE - Geography, Science and Mathematics
