You will:

• Understand causes and effects of major natural disasters
• Experience the stages of the information skills process
• Develop skills in using library resources, print and technological

The research tasks:

• Choose the natural disaster that you want to investigate.
• You have a choice of: Volcano; Cyclone; Plague; Fire; Avalanche; Flood; Tornado or Earthquake.
• Join other students who have chosen the same disaster as you.
• Working in groups of 3 , choose 2 tasks from each column, with the object being to make a group presentation on your disaster at the completion of this unit of work.

For this presentation you can choose your own format, eg.. Interview, panel session, web site, etc.

Here is an example:

Present a panel session for a new channel on your disaster. The disaster has just happened, and the viewpoints of an eyewitness, a member of a rescue team and the local politician are to be expressed.
