Challenge 1
Read
chapters 1 - 4. The story tells of the favourite places that Rowley, Fred
and Rabbit enjoy. As the fences between the 3 children's houses have been
removed, the children venture out to each other's back yards. As a team,
draw the backyards of the 3 children. Carefully add in all the different
places that each child describes. Now add in footsteps that each child
would take to get to the cubby house. You may choose to draw this on paper
or using a software package. When it is completed put it up for display
with an explanation.
Challenge 2
The 3 children are missing. Imagine if one of the parents came up to the tree house to find no one there but the game laid out on the ground. Rowley, Fred and Rabbit's parents are very worried that they can't find their children. The parents go to the police. Now imagine if the police asked the parents of each child to come up with some information about their child. Your team's task is to design a "Missing" poster for each of the missing children. Make sure you include as much information as you can. This information could be vital in helping the parents and police find their missing children.
Make your poster into a webpage. Your team's webpage must have yur team name with a .html extension. There must be no spaces or capital letters in the name. For example, if your team name was 'The Green Dragons', your web page must be saved as: thegreendragons.html

Challenge 3
Fred,
Rowley and Rabbit all took different journeys through the game. They all
found themselves in different places after they rolled the dice. Discuss
with your team the places the characters found themselves in the Game of
the Goose. Now divide up your team, take one of the 3 characters ( Fred,
Rowley or Rabbit) and draw a map outlining all the different places that
your character went through. When you come back together as a group, compare
the places that the 3 characters visited.
Challenge 4
The
Goose becomes the most important part of the game and story. Discuss with
your team the role that the Goose plays. How important is the Goose to
Rowley, Fred and Rabbit? How does the Goose gain its 'extraordinary surge
of strength? (page 127).
Challenge 5
In chapter 23, 'Home', the author takes us back to where the adventure started, in the Salvation Army Shop. Page 132 gives a clue to your team about what message Ursula Dubosarsky is trying to share with her readers. Can you find the message? Discuss what your team thinks the message means.
