Re:Info on The Arts Edu

Hello Tricia,
The Arts-edu list was established last year after a request by Anne Smith, who resides in Shepparton. One of the beauties of a mailing list is the ability to communicate without the tyranny of distance. Long gone are the network meetings, city and regional, and indeed art consultants are the way of the dinosaurs.
The mailing list can provide a great avenue for information and support from colleagues with similar interests and concerns about art education and its relevance and important inclusion in the curriculum.

This is a note from Anne Smith, who is the Maintainer of the List and the second from me.

Greetings to art teachers. Now that Tiffany has set up this list, I look forward to lots of communications between art teachers.
Network meetings used to be fun. Lots of exchanging of ideas. Questions asked and answered and argued about.
Can we do the same with this?
I hope so.
Best wishes.
Anne Smith

Hello to all "arty" colleagues,
It was a great surprise and wholehearted endorsement that this mailing list be established. A big thankyou to Anne Smith from Shepparton for the request and taking on the responsibility of list owner.

This forum has great potential for discussion of issues concerning art teachers K-12 as well as VCE Art and Studio Arts.
A current topical issue are the changes to VCE Art and Studio Arts courses and the successes of the professional development days. How did they go? Do you need further follow up? Resourcing the changes to course? How many of us are familiar and expert in post 1970 Art? The assistance and support may be here.

This forum could also be a avenue for you to discuss teaching and learning approaches. For example, teachers could provide handy hints related to materials when using "infrared film" or how do I do that 20 colour screenprint? As we know students have individual needs in subjects like these and no art teacher is an expert in all.
I am looking forward to your participation.

Renee

We all welcome your input or just have a friendly lurk to see what you can find.
