Scaperboard and Culcha disc

Howdi fellow art teachers,
Have misplaced an old book on drawing techniques which had a recipe on making "Scraperboard".  Has anyone got a or know of a technique re making scraperboard.

Anyone running Australian Indigenous Images Vol 1 - Culcha Disc on Mac's with success.  My copy has finally arrived and works well on PC's but need to run on our Mac in the art area. It doesn't, well half, no sound and a lot of the images are not available.
